If you are moving your business location or expanding your business, commercial building renovations or constructions can be complex. They require unique design planning to support different locations, amenities, and facilities. Whether it is a large overhaul, or a light office work we are with you every step of the way. From permits to inspections, you can rely on G & JD Construction. Some of our previous projects and challenges that we faced with each one are shown below:

Lyncorp

This project was done in phases starting with the main office and a few bays of the shop. The challenge was to have the project designed so that it could be added on as the phases were complete.

The size and location of the facility was a challenge with getting it fit on the property. The CP Rail line running on the east side of the property required some site layout changes.

The interior finish of the facility is not like your normal commercial building. As you can see with the front entrance of the facility, there is a lot of high-end tile work and finish trims that are included. The lunch room would put most residential kitchens to shame.

Bomber Command Museum

This design also required a phased approach as the museum at the time was solely run on donations to operate and construct.

The hanger portion of the museum required wide open spaces to accommodate the World War II-era bomber and many other heritage style planes and equipment.

The annexes of the facility host a gift shop, office space, library, and other displays in the South Annex and workshop and small hanger in the North Annex.

Museum of Miniatures

This facility was a stick-framed commercial/residential building. The east side of the facility is a bungalow-style home with ground-level entry and no basement. The west side is where the museum is located.

This facility was a new build that had to exactly match the old facility in Cardston so that all of the displays could easily fit into the new cabinets. A significant amount of time was spent on measuring and remeasuring to make sure they all fit.

Due to the close proximity of the new facility to Highway 2 southbound, challenges were faced during construction for delivery of all materials. This required coordination with the Town of Nanton and Volker Stevin (Department of Highways) on many occasions to accommodate the build during the different stages.

G & JD Shop

The location of this facility on the property required some upgrades to the sewer and water services provided by the Town of Nanton. Coordination with the Town to fix and upgrade was required during the initial excavation. This reduced the overall cost of the project since extra lift stations were not required.

Due to the high water table and wet conditions during construction of the shell, water pumping and drying were required to ensure the ground was properly compacted before floors and slabs were poured.

Building efficiencies were included with this project for heating and cooling in the office area. This included heat pumps, and in slab heating as well as high-efficiency lights, radiant heaters, and exhaust fans for the shop area.
